Can it disinfect a 250 sq ft area?
One study called ‘Surface Disinfection by Exposure to UV Light’ in the Indian Journal of Medical Microbiology showed that UV light at the same wavelength and power as Uvlizer ‘has efficient inactivation of bacteria up to a distance of 8 feet, and an exposure time of 30 minutes is adequate.’
A distance of 8 feet on each side of Uvlizer means an area 16 feet across. 16 feet x 16 feet = 256 square feet. So, Uvlizer can disinfect around 250 square feet in 30 minutes.
How does it work? Does it really kill germs and pathogens?
UV-C disinfection has been used in hospitals and airlines for decades. And there are several scientific studies proving UV-C light kills almost all kinds of germs, including the CDC and EPA.
One study of UV-C disinfection using the same wavelength and power as Uvlizer is called ‘Surface Disinfection by Exposure to UV Light’ in the Indian Journal of Medical Microbiology. This study showed that ‘UV light has efficient inactivation of bacteria up to a distance of 8 feet, and an exposure time of 30 minutes is adequate.’
How long does the bulb last? / What if I need a new bulb?
A UV bulb has a long lifespan of over 5,000 hours. In other words, if you use it every day, it will take more than 12 years to reach 5,000 hours. If you do need a replacement bulb, just contact us and we will gladly order one for you. And because your trust is our priority, we offer a 6-month warranty on the bulb of your Uvlizer.
What is the wavelength of the UV? / Is it far-UV?
The peak UV-C wavelength produced by Uvlizer is 254 nm (nanometers). This is the optimal wavelength for killing germs. Light actually produces a range of wavelengths, and it is the shorter wavelengths (below 240 nm) that produce the Ozone.
The wavelength of Uvlizer is not considered to be ‘far-UVC’, which ranges between 200-220 nm. Far-UVC is too weak to penetrate the outer layer of human skin, which is why some consider it safe for use around people. But it is much less effective at killing germs. Uvlizer is both effective and safe when used properly.
How many Uvlizer devices should I buy?
Uvlizer can disinfect a 250sq ft room. If you want to disinfect a bigger room or want to disinfect more than one room at a time, then you may want to order multiple units. Most of our customers buy two units in their first order.
Why is this device small comparing to the one used in hospitals?
